It's like I have some kind of disease... They all say that they're sorry for what happened, but no one can look me in the eyes. I'm touched by death. They don't want to get too close or else it might touch them too. I just want to escape... Run far, far away from this place and my memories. But how can I betray him like that? Even if he's dead, I can't let him feel that pain. Everyone was always leaving us... I can't leave him alone.

"Can you tell me what happened that day?"
"I don't remember everything..."
"It's okay. Just tell me what you know."
"It was going exactly as planned. We arrived at the Met just before closing time. Everything was supposed to be fine. But it wasn't there. We looked and looked, but we couldn't find it."
"Find what?"
"The clue. It was definitely the place. It couldn't have been anywhere else. We were so sure..."

"Are you angry that I included him?"
"I'm not... angry. It's just that I don't understand why we need him. Can't we just go at it alone? Why do need to bring others into the game? It'll just take longer, won't it?"
"But we need him. He knows things that we don't. You can't always be so afraid of trusting people Aidan."
"I can't help it! This is who I am. I thought you knew that."
"I know and I'm sorry. But maybe this is what you really need. You should try talking to him. He's not as bad as you may think."
"We'll see about that. I don't like him hanging around you all the time. Even though he's a nerd- he's still a guy. And you're a girl."
"You don't have to worry about me. I know how to handle him. I've been with worse before. Don't you remember how we met?"
"...Yeah. Just be careful. Don't get too close."
"Okay. I promise."

"We call it a game, but it's much more than that... For me it's the only chance I'll ever have to find my brother's murderer. It means something different to everyone. The only thing I know is that it's important to us all... It doesn't matter what your reasons are, but if we work together we can all make our dreams come true."

I'm not an intelligent person, but I keep telling myself to keep moving forward. I believe that I can make my dreams come true. I believe in the Dreamweaver. If I didn't, then I wouldn't be here.
I may be a liar, a fake, an idiot, but as long as I stay true to my dreams, then at least I can remain honest to myself.

I hate the life that I have now. I feel as if I'm slowly wasting away even though I'm only twenty-three. Stuck in a dead end job with no hope for change. A relationship that's falling apart... I just want to start over. What happened to my dreams? What happened to all those hopes? If only I could do something to make all these troubles go away and just begin afresh. A new beginning- that's what I want most.
"Why are you in the game?"
"None of your business."
"Fine. Don't tell me if you don't want to."
"...Have you ever wished that you were someone else?"
"Of course. She pulled her knees to her chest and looked away. "Lots of times."
"I wake up everyday wishing that I were someone else. If this game can give me a new identity, then I'm willing to gamble anything- everything- away."
She smiled. "Maybe that's what I'll wish for next. After I find out who killed my brother, then Ill wish for a new beginning too... How do you think he does it?"
"Who? The Dreamweaver?"
She nodded.
"I don't know and I don't care. As long as he can make our dreams come true, then it doesn't matter, right?"
"Yeah... I guess not."
"You're always acting so sure about everything. Aren't you sure now?"
"Of course I am. I was just wondering."
"Don't."
"Don't what?"
"Wonder."

"You all think that I'm such an evil guy, but what have you done for these kids? Without me, do you think that they would ever be able to achieve their dreams? If I had left them alone, they would still be living their pathetic lives, without hope for anything better. I gave them a chance to get whatever they desired. Ask them if it was worth it, if they regret it. No. Ask yourselves: If you had the chance to make all your dreams come true, what would you do? You people can condemn me here, but look deep inside and ask yourselves if you would have behaved differently. That's all I have to say."

I guess I'm content with my life. There isn't much that I would really like to change. I guess you could say that I'm unambitious.
I never really questioned the way I looked at life until I met her. She always goes forward with whatever she's thinking, whatever she's feeling. She never holds back. I'm jealous of her. There is something that she's striving toward, something that she wants so much that she's willing to play this reckless game. But I can't seem to figure out what I want. I just don't know. It's easy to say that I want money, fame, power. But what will I do when I get it? Will I be satisfied? I'm scared that I won't be. Then what will happen to me? I'm beginning to wish that I never met her that day in the library. Ever since I met her, I've had to look at myself and I'm not sure if I'm happy with what I see.

This story is about the extent you are willing to go to fulfill your dreams. When faced with the possibility of making all your desires come true, what would you do?
It's also about understanding what you actually want and being careful about what you wish for.
